Movies and bullshit

Today I went to a movie theater that had 24 screens - one of them IMAX - 5 minutes before Avatar started, thinking I'd get in. It was a morning showing, and who goes to see an action/adventure movie in 3D IMAX on a Sunday morning? Answer: enough people to sell out the first two shows - that's hundreds and hundreds of tickets. But of course. People have been losing their shit about this movie, and I somehow thought "Yeah, I'll just show up and get a ticket. Won't be no problem." It was then that I realized two things: how much I love the movies, and the extent to which Iowa has fucked me up.

Now, don't get it twisted. I'd consider myself an Iowa defender. People talk shit and I let 'em know, "hey man, you don't even know what's goin' down so chill." I think it's a matter of people talking without information. Like when gay marriage got passed. "Oh my God, Iowa?!?!" When, to me, if you had been paying attention people would realize - Oh, well duh, Iowa. Iowa has taught me a lot about who I am and what I want out of life and opened my eyes to the beauty of simplicity and nature and friendship. But there is no 24 screen theater in Iowa, and showing up right befoe a movie starts DOES NOT FLY.

I knew this. As a kid, I was there 20 minutes in advance, at least. People always say, ALWAYS SAY, "Oh there's fifteen minutes of previews, we can be a little late." I LOVE PREVIEWS. How the fuck do you know what you're going to see in the coming months if you are not informed by previews that are related to the film you've already purchased tickets for? Buying movie tickets and skipping the previews is like paying for a meal and throwing the appetizer in the trash. Anyway, you might think, "sure the suburban Atlanta theater is nice, but it's madd expensive, bro!" Yeah, true. However, on of the advantages of a giant theater is the opportunity to do promotions. The AMC theater I live by in GA plays all movies before noon for five dollars, so I could conceivably pay less in my lifetime seeing the same movies at that fantastic establishment (under the noon stipulation) than I would at an average venue in Iowa. WTF?

During some (alarming) research in the fat loss supplements field, ran across the following regarding the use of a certain thyroid regulator:

And when you do this (along with proper exercise and diet), suddenly body fat will make like the office slacker when it's time to work weekends - it'll be nowhere to be found.

Whoever wrote this joke doesn't know how to write jokes, and that's funny. That person could also likely kill me with bare hands.
